"And he |
"Because we
don't know when we will die, we get to think of
life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens a certain number of times. And a
very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of
your childhood, some afternoon that's so deeply a part of your being that you can't even
conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more. Perhaps not even that.
How many more times will you watch a full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. Yet it all seems so
limitless."

| Bruce
Lee died of a brain edema on July 20, 1973. Brandon was approaching his 9th birthday when his father
died. Bruce's death has been shrouded by mystery, although the cause of death was given as
a brain edema, which is quite simply defined as a swelling of the brain. Bruce's death was
officially ruled "Death by Misadventure" but over the years there have been many who claim Bruce was
murdered by those who did not appreciate his "mixing" of the various forms of martial arts to form his own style
Jeet Kune Do and the fact that Bruce was teaching the ancient martial arts secrets to "non-Asian" students.
Shortly after Bruce died Linda Lee moved Brandon and his sister Shannon to Los Angeles
where Brandon spent most of his childhood and teenage years. Before Bruce died Brandon appeared with Bruce in several demonstrations Bruce gave, some of which were televised which included Hong Kong television. |
Brandon studied drama in
high school and then went on to take acting classes at the Actors Studio in New York which
was founded by the legendary Lee Strasberg and his wife Paula. He also studied acting at Emerson
College in Boston, MA, later joining Eric Morris' American New Theater Company in NYC and
then relocated with the company to Los Angeles. He appeared in John Lee Hancock's Full Fed
Beast in Los Angeles.
Brandon studied Jeet Kune Do with Dan Inosanto and Ted Wong, two of Bruce's former students who run the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts. The Inosanto Academy is located in Marina Del Rey, California. For Brandon at times it must have been a struggle to be the son of the legendary Bruce Lee. |

| Brandon due to the frequent
moves and to being the first child born to new parents did not sleep through the night for
18 months. "He never took to a pacifier or special
blanket, he just hollered all the time, which ironically, seems to have marked the
beginning to his life's pattern. Brandon was born with a head of jet black hair which
quickly fell out and grew in platinum blond. Bruce used to say that Brandon was the only
grey-eyed, blond-haired Chinaman in the world". (from The Bruce Lee Story, Linda Lee Cadwell). "Bruce and Brandon were very close. They
played together, practiced kung fu together, traveled together, and read books together.
Brandon was eight years old when Bruce died. To explain to this child that the hero of his
life could no longer come home, was incomprehensible to him."

| In 1993 Brandon fought hard to win the part of Eric Draven in the adaptation of
James O'Barr's comic The Crow. Brandon was in top physical condition for this film, as
though he knew just how grueling filming would prove to be. Many of the scenes were filmed
at below freezing temperatures while machine-made rain pelted down. The Crow was The Beginning of
what should have been a great Career. Tragically this was not the beginning but rather the
end as Brandon was killed while filming the Crow on March 31, 1993.
Brandon and his
fiancee, Eliza Hutton were to have been married after Finishing The Crow. Their wedding was scheduled for April 17, 1993. |
